It is not impossible. I managed to decode all polygons for the purpose of rendering a map.
Ask me which shape-file and the output format and i’ll send the result to you.
Nathaniel, in one of the posts here I keep coming back to see answer, I don’t think you would accept that your visitors get to such situation, so maybe adding an email notification to this forum would facilitate things, and even let members engage with each other in a quick way.

the meshing is not good there as you can see, but it is essential to be able to “manipulate” countries as polygons rather than contours.
my goal is to create a reusable data visualization component. for example you can add symbols to lo/lat points, color countries with different colors (according to certain measure etc)
