ISO 3166-1 countries

I would like to have a geospatial dataset with all ISO 3166-1 countries from http://www.iso.org/iso/country_codes/iso_3166_code_lists/country_names_and_code_elements.htm and additional records for other areas.

Neither the countries (ne_10m_admin_0_countries) nor the map units (ne_10m_admin_0_map_units) datasets contains all the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes Missing are for countries BQ, BV, CC, CX, GF, GP, MQ, RE, SJ, TK, YT and for map units: AG, BA, BE, FR, GB, GE, IQ, NL, NO, PS, PG, PT, RS, SO, SY, UM.

Is there really no ISO 3166-1 countries dataset and should I combine the countries and map units datasets? It seems to me it would be extremely useful to have such dataset, as the ISO 3166-1 countries list is used in many organizations.
